My life so far, a summary

Let's start with the beginning. I was born on the 21'th of December 1963 in Spydeberg, Norway. My parents, Anna Camilla (1934) and Sigurd Ottar (1927) owned a small farm bough from an uncle of my mother. The farm is a bit out 'in the woods' and there was only a few kids to play with, none at the same age as myself. I have a brother (Lars, born1957) and a sister (Ingeborg, born 1959).  For the first 9 years at school I had to travel 7km by bus each way, for the next 3 years 5km more. When I started studying, I moved to a tiny apartment, but continued to visit the farm at weekends. In 1983 I had a serious accident with my first car (72' Mazda 616), and broke both legs (femur's). I was tied to wheelchair for 4 month's, but kept the spirits up because I knew I would rise again. When I completed studying in 1986, I went to service my country for about a year. With my experience with RC-airplanes, I was one of the few lucky to do my service as a target UAV pilot. It was a great year with lots of modeling and a care-free life. When I got a job at SensoNor in 1987, I moved to Horten and has stayed there since. In the spring of 2016 I moved from the end-apartment in a 4-appartment house to my own house. Since I live by myself I have plenty of room.

Cars

I'm not a car enthusiast, but enjoys driving . The cars I have had are:

  • 1972 Mazda 616 : Bought 1982. Cheap first car in reasonable shape, thoroughly broken in serious accident 1983.
  • 1981 Mazda 323 1.5 : Bought 1985. Small good quality, I drove 200.000 km with it. Sold 1995
  • 1986 Mazda 626 2.0 GTi : Bought 1995, fast family car. Sold 1999.
  • 1995 Opel Omega MV6 caravan : Bought 1999, more sedate with automatic transmission etc. Very suitable for long trips at high speed (German autobahn), and ample space for 2x2m models. The Omega was nice, but a mechanical nightmare.  Expensive to keep running.
  • 2005 Mitsubishi Grandis : Japanese quality, hopefully a 'perpetum mobile'. (Sold Nov 202 after 298728km)
  • 2018 Mercedes Vito 119 : Bought nov. 2020, more room for my models

The wreck of my first car, a Mazda 616 1972 model. My Mazda 323 with the famous box.                                 Opel Omega MV6 Mitsubish Grandis

Other toys

A couple of years ago I bough a small old motorcycle, a 1971 Honda CB 350. It looked quite bad and was in rather shabby state. I ran it for a while and then disintegrated it totally.  After a while it was on the road again with correct colours and is in a generally better state, the engine has been in parts for a few years now.

This is how it looked in the autumn 2005, just before I started to tear it down. An MC is made up of quite a lot of parts :-) This is how it looks now. It's not museum quality, but quite OK. A few years ago I bought a 1999 Honda CB 750F2  (SevenFifty)

The Honda CB450 I had for a few years is sold, it was a nice one:
